What resources, support or learning opportunities at Phillips Medisize have empowered you to enhance your performance or advance your career goals?
Throughout my time with Phillips Medisize, I’ve had opportunities for internal training on a wide range of topics, including communication skills, supervisor responsibilities, Lean Six Sigma, operational excellence and more, as well as external program-specific equipment and systems training. Each opportunity has allowed me to expand my knowledge by engaging with my peers and other experts who have challenged my thinking and helped grow my career. A few specific examples are onsite Lean Six Sigma and Green Belt training for an engineering team and a Koch session on Human and Organizational Performance.
Can you share how your role here has challenged you to grow and reach your full potential?
As I have grown in the different roles I’ve held within Phillips Medisize, my responsibilities and decision rights have expanded, continually challenging me to learn outside my current responsibilities. I believe these opportunities for growth have continued to help me become an increasingly effective employee and leader.
How have your team members or leaders supported your growth and professional development?
Our focus on Roles, Responsibilities and Expectations (RR&E) and individual development have allowed me to discuss my career goals with my supervisors regularly and ensure my projects ultimately move me toward my long-term goals. Additionally, the openness of our teams and the way they challenge each other spark conversations that often lead to deeper understanding of an issue and help us make better decisions.
What does it mean to you to contribute to a company dedicated to improving people’s lives?
The fact that the work we do improves people’s lives means a lot to me; the work we do matters. When I come to work, I know I am helping improve the lives of my family members, friends, co-workers and countless others who rely on the devices and products we help make a reality every day.
How does the environment at Phillips Medisize encourage you to explore new ideas and embrace innovation?
Being a CDMO allows us to see, experience and develop new ideas and embrace innovation. Exploring and innovating is not only encouraged, it is expected. We want to be a partner of choice for our customers, so we must continually look for ways to transform our processes and try to offer the best services available.
How does Phillips Medisize foster a culture of transparency and trust among employees?
We expect that employees and supervisors have regular one-on-one conversations to discuss development opportunities and just get to know one another. Having regular conversations helps create a relationship that allows for transparency and the ability to talk through challenges. Staying connected helps to strengthen our culture.
