Bailey Harder
Director, Global Operational Excellence

What resources, support or learning opportunities at Phillips Medisize have empowered you to enhance your performance or advance your career goals?
We are a large organization with so many different career paths. I’ve had the opportunity to “meet the company where I am” as I started as a production operator while going to college and not really sure what I wanted professionally. Once I learned about manufacturing and how I could become part of our engineering organization, I was hooked. I worked for the company while completing a degree in engineering. Since that time, I’ve had the great benefit of mentors, experiences and opportunities teaching me what I needed to achieve operations leadership roles that I knew I wanted from the very first days of being with the company.
Can you share how your role here has challenged you to grow and reach your full potential?
Working in operations is never the same for long. Particularly in my current and recent roles, I’ve been able to learn about people and teams, how to connect them to our shared vision, and mentor/coach along the way. That, paired with the technical challenges an engineer loves, I’ve been able to reach my potential by sharing my passion with teams I’ve had great fortune to lead.
How have your team members or leaders supported your growth and professional development?
My team members and leaders have respectfully challenged me at every step along the way. I really thrive in environments where we competitively pursue the best outcome. By having contribution-motivated people surrounding and leading me, this has allowed me to learn, fail and grow.
What does it mean to you to contribute to a company dedicated to improving people’s lives?
There’s something surreal about seeing the products we make in (patient) testimonials or in real life. Everyone has faced adversity, but the sense of fulfillment you get when you know that you can help positively influence a patient outcome can’t be matched.
In what ways do you see Phillips Medisize upholding its commitment to integrity in everyday work?
At Phillips Medisize, we carry an expectation that you will have the courage to do the right thing. Knowing that you’re surrounded by people who work with a high level of integrity and they expect the same from you, that creates a culture of integrity. You know that in every bit of your work, the smallest tasks to the biggest initiatives, you’re part of a large organization that expects you to display courage, to say or do what is right, even if it’s challenging.
