Tool Room Manager

Responsibilities

Opportunity to lead our Tool Room in Eau Claire, WI.  Experienced mold manufacturing/tooling professional with leadership experience needed.  Competitive salary, great work environment, great team of apprentice talent and experienced tool makers!

  • Manage the performance of the Eau Claire Tool Build operation – full P&L responsibility
  • Supervise mold design, mold building, mold repair, and fixture activity with associated personnel.
  • Lead efforts associated with quoting and estimating of molds or tooling jobs (repair, revise, rebuild)
  • Responsible for staffing decisions within the operation
  • Responsible to for the training and development of team including:
  • Responsible for the apprenticeship program
  • Manage work load in the shop and assign jobs
  • Responsible for outsourcing decisions in support of cost or timeline
  • Recommend capital expenditures and lead implementation of capital projects
  • Maintain good housekeeping and safety habits (6S)
  • Develop annual Business Plan for toolroom
  • Some programs may have vision requirements

Qualifications - Education & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience leading people
  • Associate degree in machine tool or related field; or equivalent mix of education and experience
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a tool room environment, with experience in multiple facets of tool room activities

  • Leadership skills including ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Decision making and prioritization skills
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Completion of apprenticeship program; or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience at a journeyman level
  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading people
  • Extensive knowledge in tool design and tool building in the injection molding industry
  • Strong working knowledge of plastic injection molds
  • Strong and effective communication skills, including verbal, written, presentation and negotiation
  • Good judgment; showing strong business acumen, decision quality, intellectual horsepower, perspective, and problem solving
  • Proven project management experience
  • Ability to manage multiple large-scale projects
  • Ability to facilitate effective and timely communication among engineering, mold technicians, maintenance, and any other departments involved 
  • Good judgment; showing strong business acumen, decision quality, intellectual horsepower and perspective
  • Ability to identify problems and develop and implement actions to resolve them
  • Ability to motivate and influence people to achieve customer
