Tool Repair Manager

Ensure business plan objectives are met for the onsite mold manufacturing and repair operations and lead the institutionalization of MBM principles as well as safety, health, environmental and quality policies.

Key Responsibilities of the Position

  • Assure communication is effective between team members and internal and external customers
  • Provide direction and leadership to tooling department including people management as follows:  managing performance; addressing disciplinary issues; hiring; assisting people with career development; communicating information to direct reports, passing information up the management chain and fostering open communication; ensuring team is aligned with and accomplishing goals/objectives; administrative processing; and, maintaining trust and confidentiality while fostering a team environment
  • Schedule and maintain workload and assign work
  • Requisition necessary material, components and services for mold manufacturing
  • Assure that costs, deliveries and customer requirements are met
  • Coordinate team’s continuous improvement activities
  • Ensure adherence to all company policies
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Some programs may have vision requirements

Qualifications - Education & Experience

  • Experience leading people preferred
  • Associate degree in machine tool or related field; or equivalent mix of education and experience
  • Experience in a tool room environment, with experience in multiple facets of tool room activities

Qualifications - Skills & Competencies

  • Leadership skills including ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Decision making and prioritization skills
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Completion of apprenticeship program; or equivalent experience
  • Extensive knowledge in tool design and tool building in the injection molding industry
  • Strong working knowledge of plastic injection molds
  • Strong and effective communication skills, including verbal, written, presentation and negotiation
  • Good judgment; showing strong business acumen, decision quality, intellectual horsepower, perspective, and problem solving
  • Proven project management experience
  • Ability to manage multiple large-scale projects
  • Ability to facilitate effective and timely communication among engineering, mold technicians, maintenance, and any other departments involved 
  • Good judgment; showing strong business acumen, decision quality, intellectual horsepower and perspective
  • Ability to identify problems and develop and implement actions to resolve them
  • Ability to motivate and influence people to achieve customer satisfaction
