Strategic Demand & Operations Planner

Ensure adequate resources are efficiently planned and available to support customer demand across the Phillips-Medisize footprint. Working within the Operational Excellence department, the Strategic Demand & Operations Planner works with facility-level staff to coordinate, standardize, and aggregate their demand and capacity plans into an integrated system.

• Collaborate with business leaders to develop priorities across topics including manufacturing footprint, capacity planning, supply chain capabilities, and sales and operations planning
• Model the impact of new business awards, sales opportunities, and growth initiatives on capacity and footprint globally across the organization
• Ensure capacity analysis is accurate to the equipment level and reflects the capital requirements for each site. Provides CAPEX support to site operations.
• Collaborate with site leadership teams to ensure capacity analysis flows seamlessly from the capacity plan to press and assembly level scheduling.
• Improve the organization's forecasting and planning capabilities by identifying and integrating multiple data sources, including customer forecasts, market growth rates, and competitive analysis
• Develop and launch capacity expansion and contraction initiatives as warranted by business and market requirements; recommend alternative sites, presses, and tools as appropriate
• Build tools and capabilities to monitor and plan capacity as an integrated part of business-as-usual at Phillips-Medisize
• Support corporate-wide planning initiatives and develop company’s capabilities through training and collaboration at the plant-level
• Support acquisition due diligence focused on operations, as warranted by deal flow
• Some programs may have vision requirements
• Extended travel to other facilities may be required to support business needs

Qualifications - Education & Experience

• BA/BS degree in Business, Statistical Analysis, Engineering with healthcare or manufacturing focus; MBA preferred 
• Minimum 2-3+ years of operations planning and analytical experience, preferably gained in healthcare manufacturing to assure familiarity with applicable regulatory environment
• Demonstrated experience with finite capacity planning, including a working familiarity with BOM and routing structures from manufacturing to marketing levels.
• Working knowledge of Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), preferably with experience in leading demand or supply reviews and/or MBR's.
• Experience in plastic injection molding manufacturing environment and/or with healthcare/ medical products advantageous.
• Experience in the use and application of ERP systems in the context of capacity/production planning in a manufacturing environment (preferred)
• APICS Certification (preferred)
• Experience in the application of Lean/Continuous Improvement methodologies including extended value stream mapping and optimizing the flow of raw, WIP and FG inventories across multiple sites.

• Critical thinking skills to solve the toughest business problems through a combination of strategic framing, data driven analysis and business instincts
• Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written. 
• Presentation of fact based discussions with senior management
• Financial modeling experience including an understanding of both operating levers and capital investments/ expenditures. Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and practical applications in modeling, e.g. capacity utilization forecasts, ROI/NPI calculations, etc.
• Comfortable understanding scientific/ technical content and translating it into business implications
• Ability to work autonomously across multiple initiatives Gravitas to interact with functional leaders across the management team – operations, legal, finance, HR, etc.
