Project Cost Engineer

Join our engineering and manufacturing team as a PROJECT COST ENGINEER at our facility in Clinton (former Injectronics).

  • Receive, evaluate, and prioritize requests for quotations
  • Select appropriate team to create quotation, and facilitate the entire quotation process
  • Calculate part weights, cycle time, scrap, and other manufacturing parameters to establish piece part cost and price, using established machine and labor rates.  Recommend appropriate materials for the customer application, as needed.
  • Determine assembly process flows, cycle times, scrap, and other manufacturing parameters to establish assembly cost and price, using established machine and labor rate
  • Collaborate with Sr. Program Managers to establish costs for tooling, equipment / automation, and engineering time to reach production launch
  • Schedule and lead Quote Review meetings after all quotations are proofed for accuracy, consistency, and conciseness; and prior to issuance to the customer
  • Provide accurate and timely transfer of information between Customer Service, Marketing and Sales and external customers
  • Function as the subject matter expert in costing estimating and pricing proposal development, with deep understanding of the cost estimating model and knowledge in development of machine, labor, and floor space rates
  • Orient new engineers/manufacturing personnel in quoting process
  • Support Project Engineers, Program Managers and other staff with information pertaining to pricing strategies and/or risk analysis
  • Participate in facility Cost Study and Account Review Teams
  • Extended travel to other facilities may be required to support business needs
  • Some programs may have vision requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications - Education & Experience

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering or Finance/Accounting or equivalent education/experience
  • Minimum five years of technical experience in the injection molding industry with good working knowledge of tooling, processing manufacturing and/or design


Qualifications - Skills & Competencies

  • Must be able to represent the Facility in a competent and professional manner with all people, especially external customers
  • Understanding of polymer processing, common secondary operations, and assembly methods
  • Working knowledge of engineering and manufacturing economics
  • Sound general understanding of business finance
  • Excellent skills in verbal communication, written documentation, and proposal development
  • Must be able to accurately and efficiently use CAD systems for file transfers, viewing and analysis
