Production Planner

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between manufacturing, sales and customers
  • Dedicated customer focus from RFQ, ongoing customer service to final delivery
  • Communicate customer purchasing and shipping requirements throughout the organization
  • Provide capability information to customers and negotiate quantity and delivery agreements
  • Schedule all process areas efficiently for all programs by utilizing the manufacturing system to develop work schedules that facilitate the timely completion of job orders based on relative priority
  • Monitor and coordinate production scheduling of products from beginning to end to ensure shipment per commitments
  • Work with vendors to track the status of parts sent out for secondary operations
  • Arrange for same-day transportation of shipments when necessary and manage premium freight costs to minimize impact to the facility
  • Investigate and take necessary action on sales order changes, cancellations, pricing issues, customer complaints, etc.
  • Inform customers of price changes, overtime premium and expedition changes
  • Forecast people / machine requirements weekly and on an annual basis to maximize press time and minimize overtime
  • Ensure all supplies and equipment necessary to run jobs are available
  • Coordinate all schedule changes resulting from custom requests
  • Represent the needs of customers regarding corrective and preventive action

Qualifications - Education & Experience

  • Degree in production management or related field (concentration in scheduling, materials management or customer service); or equivalent mix of experience and education 

Qualifications - Skills & Competencies

  • Skills in problem solving techniques
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel; or similar office related software
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to do multiple tasks at the same time
  • Knowledge of basic inventory, production control techniques, JIT, work cells, self-managed teams
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Ability to direct and motivate people
