Principal Tooling Engineer – Cost Estimating Focus

Responsibilities

  • Cross functional tooling concept review and provide recommendations to improve tool function and innovation with focus on win the business.
  • Create Tool Quotations using the Siemen’s NX Software.
  • Apply DMAIC process to quotations lost related to tooling.  Analyze, report, and make recommendations for improvement through the Tooling Council and Engineering Council
  • Drive continuous improvement activities into tooling concept creation and quoting functions.
  • Follow up on tooling to ensure compliance with PMC standards in design, tool build, and schedule
  • Develop tooling manufacturing lead times and identify constraints and recommend opportunities to reduce tool build time and costs
  • Extended travel to other facilities may be required to support business needs
  • Some programs may have vision requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications - Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a technical field; or equivalent mix of education and experience.
  • Minimum of (15) years tooling experience in the molding industry.
  • Experience communicating with customers and collaborating with teammates
  • Demonstrated industry-specific knowledge and capability to lead.

Qualifications - Skills & Competencies

  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering project management
  • Strong tool build and design knowledge
  • Working knowledge of injection molding and materials
  • Strong tool build and design knowledge
  • Must have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to make recommendations for secondary operations, procedures, fixtures, and supplies
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Working knowledge of injection molding and materials
  • Some travel to customers and other Phillips-Medisize facilities
