Pre-Production Build Coordinator

Responsibilities

  • Own/manage build schedule as identified by Program Manager
  • Serve as a liaison between Program Manager and Manufacturing
  • Ensure all required components, subassemblies, supplies and equipment are available to run jobs
  • Coordinate all schedule changes resulting from customer requests
  • Monitor and coordinate production scheduling to ensure shipment per commitments
  • Provide capability information to Program Manager and communicate quantity and delivery agreements
  • Work within the Operations group to efficiently schedule all process areas utilizing the manufacturing system
  • Develop work schedules that facilitate timely completion of job orders based on relative priority
  • Work with vendors and Operations to track the status of parts sent out for secondary operations
  • Communicate customer build requirements throughout the organization
  • Arrange for transportation of shipments when necessary and manage premium freight costs to minimize impact to the facility
  • Inform Program Manager of price changes, overtime premium and expedited changes
  • Forecast and monitor resources/machine requirements weekly to maximize efficiency and minimize overtime
  • Represent the needs of customers regarding corrective actions
  • Manage P-card for office supplies and MISC. purchases
  • Manage the purchase reqs for Tool Design
  • Assist with coordinating and shipping of sample parts along with putting the data in a readable format
  • Keep/Fill inventory process got Tool Design
  • Some programs may have vision requirements
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Safety/Environmental:
    Where applicable, individual is pre-planning safety into work activities to improve performance
    Proactively identifies safety concerns
    Complies with Environmental Management System program SOP’s/WI, Policy & Program elements and encourages responsible use of resources
  • Actively participate in continual improvement/innovation, corrective action and internal/external customer satisfaction
  • Completion of one of the following:
    -  Submission of a continuous improvement idea
    -  Active participation in a Phillips-Medisize sponsored committee or event
        (Examples include a - Rapid Improvement Event, a 5S/Lean event, Safety
        Committee, Wellness Committee, Recycling Committee, Activity Committee, or
        other Phillips-Medisize sponsored community outreach project/event (United
        Way, Junior Achievement, etc.)

Qualifications - Education & Experience

  • Degree in production management or related field (concentration in scheduling, materials management or customer service)
  • Minimum two (2) years’ related experience

Qualifications - Skills & Competencies

  • Skills in problem solving techniques
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel; or similar office related software
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to do multiple tasks at the same time
  • Knowledge of basic inventory, production control techniques, JIT, work cells, self-managed teams
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Ability to direct and motivate people
