Mold Technician - 2nd Shift

Responsibilities

  • Work with production floor people at the facility to set up molding and secondary equipment and problem solve to ensure quality parts are produced for the customer.  
  • Set up, start up, and change over production jobs consistent with process control capabilities and quoted standards. May include robotics, part pickers and vision systems  
  • Setup and operate job related equipment including molding machines, lift trucks, overhead cranes, and power mold carts.  
  • Use proper process procedure documentation and databases for performing routine set up functions and troubleshooting work
  • Evaluate molding processes in order to update techniques and improve quality, safety and productivity efficiencies.  Ensure the processes fall within validated windows or within the established guidelines.  
  • Communicate important information to Mold Techs on next shift 
  • Work with production group to meet production demands
  • Some programs may have vision requirements
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Safety/Environmental:
  • -Where applicable, individual is pre-planning safety into work activities to improve performance
  • -Proactively identifies safety concerns
  • -Complies with Environmental Management System program SOP’s/WI, Policy & Program elements and encourages responsible use of resources
  • Actively participate in continual improvement/innovation, corrective action and internal/external customer satisfaction
  • Completion of one of the following:
  • -Submission of a continuous improvement idea
  • -Active participation in a Phillips-Medisize sponsored committee or event (Examples include a - Rapid Improvement Event, a 5S/Lean event, Safety Committee, Wellness Committee, Recycling Committee, Activity Committee, or other Phillips-Medisize sponsored community outreach project/event 

Qualifications - Education & Experience

  • Completion of Associate Degree in Electromechanical Technology or similar technical degree program
  • Basic reading, writing and math - assessment will part of the hiring process
  • Work in a timely manner to be certified in the internal Mold Tech Development Program

Qualifications - Skills & Competencies

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication and problem solving skills.
  • Strong skills in continuous improvement and process facilitation.
  • Basic computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Basic reading, math and comprehension skills.
  • Know and understand SPC
  • Knowledge of plastic resins and resin drying systems
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics is preferred
  • Working knowledge of measurement equipment
  • Basic blueprint reading skills
  • Knowledge of ISO / GDP / cGMP practices
  • Knowledge in Clean Room Practices
