Intern - Operational Excellence

Responsibilities

Immediate need!  This position is intended as a temporary Internship.  It is a paid position, but offers no benefits.   Intern is expected to work parttime during the school year with opportunity to work fulltime next summer.

Objective:
Responsible for the effective implementation and management of lean tools, systems and principles. Lead focused, proactive problem-solving efforts to improve processes and SQDC metrics. Responsible to identify and improve the outcomes of manufacturing and operational processes to improve efficiencies, reduce cost, and increase customer satisfaction.  In addition, find and implement ways to eliminate waste in processes by increasing productivity, maximizing efficiency, and managing human capital more effectively by utilizing Lean techniques

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and lead process improvement projects and teams to drive continuous improvement and cultural changeWork closely with cross-functional teams to make operations more efficient and reduce the 8 Wastes of Lean
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to make operations more efficient and reduce the 8 Wastes of Lean
  • Maximize improvement and cost savings by proactively identifying areas for improvement, leading leanitiatives and projects, utilizing lean tools and techniques, analyzing and reporting key metrics, communicating continuous improvement activities and training team members to accomplish the sameLead root cause analysis, evaluating production metrics and trends, improving material flow, creati project plans, creating and improving process documentation
  • Lead projects to achieve business, quality, and compliance objectives
  • Some programs may have vision requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications - Education & Experience

  • Actively pursuing a bachelors’ degree in engineering or related technical discipline      
  • Knowledge of Lean tools (SMED, VSM, 5S, Kanban, Kaizen, KPIs, JIT, etc.), systems, and principles preferred
