Engineering Technician Tooling

Responsibilities

  • Works with engineering and tool room staff to develop mold maps and special instructions outlining how to disassemble, perform preventive maintenance, changeover, and reassemble injection molds
  • Maintain molds through preventive maintenance as well as ensuring calibration schedules are adhered to
  • Evaluate molds after PQ runs are complete to confirm tool is ready for production and that documentation packet that has been developed is accurate and complete.
  • Troubleshoot and suggest creative solutions to process and design issues
  • Installation and set-up of equipment and ancillary support hardware for molds
  • Assist in up-front design considerations of molds, fixtures, and end of arm tools
  • Manage multiple projects and/or challenging projects 
  • Strong ability to think outside of box, and assist others in doing so
  • Assist with creating, updating and training on WI, SOP, and other necessary documents needed to perform quality mold changeovers and maintenance
  • Install components in injection molds for sample 
  • Perform mold maintenance
  • Work with others to schedule installation, sampling, and removal of spare mold components
  • Use our ERP software to create and update work orders, track mold maintenance, establish mold PM schedules, review mold history etc.
  • Engrave mold components as needed for future tracking and identification.  May require the use of CNC equipment
  • Some programs may have vision requirements
  • Lead Continuous Improvement projects
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Where applicable, individual is pre-planning safety into work activities to improve performance
  • Proactively identifies safety concerns
  • Complies with Environmental Management System program SOP’s/WI, Policy & Program elements and encourages responsible use of resources

Qualifications - Education & Experience

  • Associates Degree in electro-mechanical technology, machine tooling technics or related field with 3-5 years of related experience
  • Assist in identifying problems and in developing and implementing
  • Ability to interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic, schematics
  • Actively pursue training on new technology as needed by the company

  • Proven troubleshooting/problem solving experience of automated processing equipment
  • Strong ability to interpret electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and schematics
  • Competence with MS Word, MS Excel, CAD or similar drawing package
  • Understand and working knowledge of Lockout/Tagout
  • Good project management skills
  • Ability to create technical documents
  • Work with little supervision
  • Good communication and written skills
  • Leadership and self-motivation skills
  • Ability to use CNC equipment for basic engraving of mold components
