Business Development Manager - Commercial Markets

Responsibilities

  • In partnership with sales management, prepare short and long-range strategic plans, including implementation of such, to identify and grow Phillips sales in assigned technology/market segments
  • Qualify and develop leads and make initial contact
  • In partnership with sales management, develop plans and objectives for the sales effort
  • Achieve annual sales growth goals and objectives
  • Actively research and determine where specific PMC or Molex technologies fit and be presented as a solution for new product lines outside the core business or add to PMC core business
  • Act as a leader and resource providing an overall market intelligence base of information and knowledge in cooperation with customer visits and program negotiations towards the pursuit of capturing new customers
  • Will be the key focal point to develop and inform the Corporation with regard to updates and changes within assigned technology focus/new market areas/customer base, affording Phillips-Medisize the highest possible change to meet the needs of the market and customers with regard to capture of new programs and sales growth
  • Partner with Manufacturing Operations, Marketing Services, Business Development, Support Services (Quality/IT/Purchasing/Accounting) and facility Engineering Management in the development of new business opportunities
  • Strong and effective communication skills, including verbal, written, presentation and negotiations
  • Extensive travel required
  • Some programs may have vision requirements

Qualifications - Education & Experience

  • BS degree in business marketing or engineering or equivalent experience and education 
  • Minimum of five (5) years in injection molding experience 
  • Minimum of five (5) years outsource selling in market segment
  • Experience with customer contract negotiations
  • Experience in the automotive, consumer, defense and industrial markets
  • A strong knowledge of assigned market segment(s) and customer base (both existing and potential) in technology, developing trends and opportunities
  • Significant experience with developing new customers and programs

Qualifications - Skills & Competencies

  • Demonstrated ability in developing long term mutually rewarding customer relationships
  • Demonstrated financial knowledge (understands P&L and balance sheet)
  • Working understanding of market segment manufacturing processes, quality systems
  • Strong organizational and follow through skills
  • Must be self-motivated, ambitious and possess a winning attitude
  • Must be aggressive and focused upon developing new customers
  • Persuasive, consensus building and an energetic personality
  • Ability to partner effectively (internally and externally) with personnel at all levels, particularly at top management levels/decision makers within the customer base
  • Strong and effective communication/documentation skills including verbal, written, presentation and negotiation
  • Good judgment showing strong business acumen, decision making qualities and problem solving skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Strong research and information development capabilities
