Responsibilities

A Manager of Human Resources opportunity is available now! Responsible for overall operational management of the human resources function at Phillips Medisize Sligo. Fully support the business requirements and implement the organization’s human resources programs in line with corporate, regional and divisional objectives, ensuring compliance with Irish employment legislation. Coach and guide managers and employees in the appropriate application of the Market Based Management (MBM) philosophy, advocating for the advancement of an MBM culture, especially as it relates to HR practices. 

Manages human resources processes and activities. This includes: recruitment, training and development, compensation and benefits, employee communications, employee relations and other activities as needed.

  • Acts as an internal Consultant/Coach to management on Human Resources issues.  Makes recommendations to resolve issues and provides ongoing follow-up support.
  • Actively leads Employee Engagement programmes and Internal Communication initiatives and acts as chair of the Employee Representative Group (ERG)
  • Provides advice and guidance to management relative to third party employee representation especially on negotiations and related legal issues.
  • Organize employee orientation programs for new recruits
  • Drive succession planning efforts in conjunction with regional goals
  • Assist managers with identifying departmental and individual training needs
  • Develop, implement, and supervise recruitment programs in line with the business requirements.
  • Assist and/or participate in recruitment fairs and build relationships with universities to develop Graduate Programme in line with business needs
  • Support the application of the compensation philosophy across areas of responsibility, providing guidance and coaching and identifying action items to further advance understanding
  • Coordinate, administer and regularly review employee benefits.
  • Sets up a process for two-way communication and uses employee feedback for improvement
  • Directs the interpretation and application of established human resources policies throughout the plant.
  • Prepares and issues manuals describing human resources policies, and interprets such policies for managers and supervisors.
  • Uses HR system (i.e. SAP) to manage employee data and develop/monitor vital signs.

 

Qualifications - Education & Experience

  • University Degree in Human Resource Management or Commercial qualification with CIPD exams completed
  • Health and Safety qualification advantageous

Qualifications - Skills & Competencies

The position requires the ability to identify and resolve employment problems quickly and avoid potential legal liabilities.  High level communication skills are essential to keep managers and employees appropriately informed of, and ensure they understand, the HR matters affecting them.  Influencing skills are critical to guide managers and employees through interpretation of the MBM culture and company policy and to accept HR guidance with minimal escalation.  Interpersonal skills are necessary to encourage managers and employees to involve HR on a timely basis.
